Much of literary criticism lives in books. You will need to search the catalog to find books to use for your criticism review. In addition to physical books, the library has access to many electronic books that can be accessed on the internet through EBSCO.

Subject Searching for Shakespeare Resources

Use Browse Subject terms (Library of Congress Subject Headings) for focused searches.
Here are some examples you can copy and paste as subject search terms:

  • Shakespeare, William, 1564-1616
  • Shakespeare, William, 1564-1616-- Criticism and interpretation
  • Shakespeare, William, 1564-1616-- (insert title of play here)

You might also look for collections of critical essays--sometimes they are callled "critical series or "companion readers" or somesuch.

  • Cambridge companion to Shakespeare
  • Edinburgh critical guides to literature.
