2014. Susan Swords Steffen. Illinois Academic Librarian of the Year. Illinois Library Association.

This award recognizes an Illinois librarian who is making an outstanding statewide contribution to academic or research librarianship and to library development.
 

2011. Susan Swords Steffen. Mel George Award. LIBRAS.

The purpose of this award is to honor LIBRAS founders who, by their example, have made a significant contribution to the development of interlibrary cooperation through the establishment of LIBRAS.

 

2010. A.C. Buehler Library. Excellence in Academic Libraries. Association of College and Research Libraries.

This award is to recognize the accomplishments of librarians and other library staff as they come together as members of a team to support the mission of their institution.

 

Grants

2015. Assessment in Action: Academic Libraries and Student Success, funded by ACRL's Value of Academic Libraries initiative, undertaken in partnership with the Association for Institutional Research (AIR) and the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) 2015.

The grant supports the design, implementation and evaluation of a program to strengthen the competencies of librarians in campus leadership and data-informed advocacy.
 

2015. Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) Consortium on Digital Resources for Teaching and Learning, funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

This grant will improve teaching and learning, enhance faculty and student/faculty research, and streamline administrative capabilities through a uniform and cost-effective system. Each institution in the Consortium will identify at least one collection that could be made more valuable and used more frequently if it were stored and shared via a networked solution.
 

2015. Elaine Page. Big Deals and Small Colleges: How Do Smaller Institutions Efficiently Evaluate E-Journal Subscriptions? Elmhurst College.
 

2015. Online Competencies Curriculum, Teaching and Learning Hybrid Learning and the Residential Liberal Arts Experience, funded by the Teagle Foundation Grants in Higher Education, with St Norbert’s College, Illinois Wesleyan University, Augustana College and Elmhurst College.

For the partner institutions to create a repository of online learning modules focused on information fluency, technological adaptability, and communication skills. The online learning modules developed for this project will be made available for faculty to use in their courses, helping students to understand and develop basic competencies in these three areas and also apply them in a disciplinary context.
 

2014. Back to Books, funded by the Illinois State Library.

This collection development grant offered to Illinois libraries for the acquisition of books and other materials. Theatre books and plays were purchased. The Library held a 24 Hour Play in conjunction with acquiring the collection.
 

2014. Yearbook Digitization Grant, funded by the Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries of Illinois. Hosted by the Internet Archive.

This grant allowed for the digitization of 100 years of student yearbooks and the hosting of the date on the Interent Archive.

 

2013. Muslim Journeys Bridging Cultures Bookshelf, funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Library Association.

A collection of 25 books, 4 DVDs, and other programming resources selected to help public audiences in the United States become more familiar with the people, places, history, faith, and cultures of Muslims around the world and within the U.S.
