Common printing questions

Do students print for free?

  • $65 is allocated to each students printing account in PaperCut at the start of the academic year
  • This allocation is implemented to help reduce paper and ink waste
  • Every print job that is released will debit from this amount

How much does it cost to print?

  • Each page side printed will debit from your allocation:
    • Black & White page: $0.01
    • Color page: $0.10
  • Double-sided printing is preferred to reduce waste and impact on the environment

How do you check your print balance?

  • Check your print balance by logging into PaperCut from the myElmhurst Portal and then clicking on the Summary page
  • Your available printing balance will appear in the Balance section

What will happen if you reach your print balance?

  • You will receive an email notification when your print balance falls beneath $5.00
  • You may purchase additional printing credits in increments of $5.00 through TouchNet.

What happens to any unused allocation at the end of the academic year?

  • Your allocation refreshes each August, and any unused allocated funds are wiped
  • If you have purchased any extra printing credits through TouchNet, they will carry over to the next academic year

Can I receive a refund if a job fails to print properly?

  • Charges for missing or defective print jobs are eligible for a refund
  • Refund requests must be made within 7 days of the print job date using the PaperCut app on myElmhurst Portal
  • To make a request:
    • Select the Recent Print Jobs tab
    • Click the Request Refund link next to the job that experienced an issue

How will my printing allocation be affected if I need to print as a student employee?

  • When using printers in campus offices, print jobs will always be billed to departments and will not be debited from student printing quotas
  • Copy cards will be available in offices that can be used by student employees to charge copies to departments.
